Bio for Luke Kirkland (EIC):
– Luke Kirkland was drawn to boot hockey at the youthful age of 7 after watching his father playing for the T.C. Strutters in a local bar league. Kirkland was astonished by the games raw physicality and how the sport (and alcohol unknown to Kirkland at the time) appeared to have an uplifting effect on his father. Kirkland went on to hone his skills at his local neighborhood rink, where he would routinely shoot 200 tennis balls a day into a net while ridiculing anyone on skates. Kirkland went on to become one of the first prominent stars in the GLBHA during the league’s infancy. He captained two Lothsen Cup Championship teams before the age of twenty-two years old. After four more years in the league and two major knee surgeries, Kirkland went on to become player-coach of the Danbury Gamblers. After one losing season with the Gamblers, Kirkland traded himself to the Siren Bear Trappers. The following season Kirkland retired. Kirkland then took a ten-year hiatus from the game that he loved to attend community college in White Bear lake, MN. Along with his editor in chief duties at Boot Hockey Digest, Kirkland occasionally instructs boot hockey clinics around the upper Midwest, and is a licensed private investigator in the state of Wisconsin.
